What do you do when you’ve already got the most exciting and capable PVR decoder on the market? South African customers are now able to connect their DStv Explora to the Internet and unlock a world of entertainment through DStv Catch Up Plus and also set Remote Recordings.

DStv Catch Up Plus gives it’s DStv Premium customers access to more than 300 titles of the latest and greatest series, movies and other exclusive content. Customers can download up to 25 titles at a time from the Internet to their DStv Explora. The data charges for these downloads will be as per the customer’s data plan with their Internet Service Provider.

DStv Catch Up, which is currently available on PVRs and the DStv Explora, offers catch up content that is instantly available for viewing – this is also known as Push Video On Demand. DStv Catch Up Plus is an additional catalogue of catch up content that can be downloaded to be watched later on the DStv Explora – which is known as Pull Video On Demand.

These 300 titles, which will grow to more than 600 titles over the next few months, include something for everyone. There’s The Sopranos, Mystery Girl, House of Lies, Dog with a Blog, Ultimate Spiderman, Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion 2014. The Walking Dead and Rookie Blue are just some of the box sets. Sport lovers will get a range of FIFA World Cup films, classic Springbok games and documentaries on our sporting heroes.

Another cool feature of Connected Services is Remote Recording. This lets customers schedule recordings via their laptop, smartphone or tablet when they’re away from home. All they have to do is to log into TV Guide on the DStv website or app using their Connect ID and select the programme they would like to record. This programme will then be recorded and added to their Explora playlist. Never miss a programme when away from home ever again!

In December 2014, MultiChoice launched the DStv NOW app, which enables customers to set recordings from any iOS or Android mobile device.

To enjoy these connected services, customers will need to link their DStv Explora to their existing Internet router, either by cable or using the DStv WiFi Connector. The Connector is available in retail for R399 incl VAT – it connects the Explora to the existing WiFi network.
